The Escolania have a link with a sports centre a few km away from the mountain where the boys go every few Fridays to practise swimming and basketball. Its always an exciting time for the boys, because this is a rare chance to leave the school and the mountain during the week!
It becomes the subject of the day before. Lunch sees discussions of the other groups of boys and girls who attend this centre, although mainly about the girls, obviously. Supper normally sees a few heated arguments about who is the best swimmer or worst basketball player. And prayers is normally anything but prayers. The older boys always complain that they have better things to do than do swimming, especially when they know that they are not the Michael Phelps of their generation. The younger boys start fighting about the basest of things; one boy started arguing that his swimming arch nemesis had sat in his place for lunch.
The day starts twenty minutes earlier for the boys, who wake up at seven am sharp, although it starts around three hours too early for me. Luckily, the sun rises at that time, and I caught these few shots:
